Joshua and Opeyemi Kesena's journey began during their NYSC service in 2016 in Taraba State. Despite differing beliefs, their friendship grew, leading to a profound relationship. Watch how our story unfolds in the YouTube video "How We Met."
After we got married we had a burning desire to speak about mistakes we had made in our past relationships, to prevent others from making the same mistakes. This led us to start our Youtube channel The Kesenas. We went through an intense pre marital counseling and this formed a good foundation for our marriage. We realized we didn't go through a lot of the challenges our peers went through simply because we had gone through personalized pre marital counseling. As a result of our passion for personalized pre marital counseling we would walk up to couples who were engaged and offer to counsel them for free.

Meet Your Counsellors
Joshua Kesena
Joshua Kesena is a communications specialist with over 11 years of experience in media communications, social research and advocacy, corporate communications, data visualisation, storytelling, graphic design and information management. He works as a consultant for several renowned organisations. He is an expert marriage counsellor. certified with The Marriage Institute Texas. He was also trained by The Family life ministry international and has worked as a counsellor with family life Nigeria for 5 years. Joshua Kesena is also a former porn, masturbation, drug, and sex addict pointing other addicts to freedom through awareness and counselling.
Joshua speaks from the perspective of someone who has walked miles in the shoes of anyone suffering from addiction and habits. Using his podcast, “Free Indeed with Josh”, other addicts have found sustained freedom from their addictions.
He is a Pastor in Celebration Church Global and currently the resident Pastor of Celebration church Benin. He is very passionate about helping people realise the greatest potential of their marriage and relationship. With his wife he has trained thousands through their family YouTube Channel The Kesenas. He and his wife have also counselled over 200 couples through their premarital counselling course. Through his Boys to Men mentorship program, he trained over 50 men on how to break free from negative patterns and be the husband and fathers God calls them to be. He is married to Opeyemi Kesena and they have 2 beautiful daughters.
When he is not working you can find him curled up with his wife watching a Korean movie, reading a book or playing with his daughters.
Opeyemi Kesena
Opeyemi Kesena is an expert marriage counsellor, certified with The Marriage Institute USA. She was also trained by The Family Life Ministry International and has worked as a counsellor with family life Nigeria for over 5 years. She is passionate about equipping people with the right tools for building beautiful & solid marriages and relationships. She has mentored thousands of people through her family YouTube channel -The Kesenas. She and her husband have counselled over 200 couples through their pre- marital counselling course. Through her Becoming ladies mentorship program she teaches women how to break toxic relationship patterns and guides them in fulfilling Gods purpose for their lives.
She is the lead baker & Ceo of Rues oven- a top bakery with multiple branches across Nigeria. Opeyemi Kesena is married to Pastor Joshua Kesena and they have 2 beautiful daughters. When she is not baking or counselling, you will find her curled up on her couch watching her favourite baking shows.
